Who we are.

Washington Area Teachers Federal Credit Union is chartered and supervised by the National Credit Union Administration(NCUA).

Our purpose is to promote thrift among our members by affording them a method of saving money by buying shares and to provide an opportunity to borrow money at a reasonable rate of interest.

Why be a member?

Nearly everyday someone comes into the Credit Union and tells a story of the advantages they have enjoyed by moving from one of the big banks with all of their fees, to the Credit Union.

We can't always beat those special teaser offers from the banks but we pride ourselves in consistently providing better service at better rates.

People helping people is not only the motto of the Credit Union movement but the way we do business.

When you join a credit union you become a member of an organization owned by its members. It is always easier and more pleasant to do business where you are a member and not just an account number.

If you are not a member of the Credit Union, ask your coworkers about their Credit Union experience.
